PHILO DAY ‘23 KICKS OFF

To highlight the significant role Philosophy plays in the daily life of man, the AB Philosophy students of St. Paul University Surigao College of Education, Culture and Arts (CECA) organized and sponsored Philosophy Day on February 10, 2023 at the Pope Francis Conference Hall anchored on the theme: “The Human of the Future.”

Series of activities were conducted such as an online symposium with resource speaker Rev. Fr. Ranhilio C. Aquino, Dean of San Beda University Graduate School of Law; and Quiz Bowl and Extemporaneous Competition.

The Maradjao Magbalantay College Seminary (MMCS) Group 4 was hailed Champion for the Quiz Bowl while Sem. Carl Darwin Fermilan won First Place for the Extemporaneous Speech Competition. Other winners for the Extemporaneous Speech Competition include Frt. Ace Legaspi - 2nd Place, Sem. Adonis Manla - 3rd Place, and Frt. Ryan Roy Bullecer - 4th Place. “The field of Philosophy helped us better understand ourselves, our world, and the questions that matter most,” Rev. Fr. Gun Real Omega, DCS, the MMCS Vice Rector and Dean of Academics and Discipline emphasized.

The one-day affair would not have been possible without the support of the College of Education, Culture and Arts headed by the Dean, Dr. Liza Chua, and the efforts of the MMCS Academic Committee Head Sem. Stanley Samoya.
